A repository of nutrition research priorities

Using this repository, researchers, funders and editors can consult existing priority setting exercises in nutrition research and ensure new research addresses priorities set by stakeholders.

New research in nutrition needs so consider priorities by various stakeholders i.e. researchers, funders, patients, public and private sector. To date however, a repository is unavailable to allow scholars to consult existing priorities in research to consider when setting up new research. This repository summarises findings from a review of nutrition research priority setting papers.

Priority setting exercisemapping review

We have used the twenty-seven nutrition priority setting papers previously identified in a systematic mapping review in 2016 and updated in 2019 (details here Hawwash et al.  perspective: consideration of values when setting priorities in nutrition research: guidance for transparency. Adv Nutr 2018 9(6) 671-687

the characteristics of the 27 priority setting papers could be found here

The developed search syntax included MeSH terms as well as free words in the title and abstract and it included the following terms (delphi OR “Delphi technique”[Mesh] OR “Consensus”[Mesh] OR “voting”[all fields] OR priorities OR priority OR prioritisation OR prioritization OR “priority setting” OR setting priority OR setting priorities OR agenda ) AND (“Diet, food and nutrition” [MeSH] OR (nutrition OR dietary OR obese OR malnutrition OR nutrition disorders Field: Title/Abstract) .

This overview is possibly incomplete and will be updated regularly. Please contact us in case you like to add findings of formal priority setting exercises.

Our aim is to raise awareness about existing priority setting exercises to increase their relevence and uptake.
